Ambulance Charges in Pakistan: What Decides the Price

Home › Blog › Ambulance Charges in Pakistan: What Decides the Price

“Bhai, kitne paise lagenge?” It’s usually the second question people ask us, right after “how fast can you come”. Fair enough. Nobody wants a surprise bill on a day that’s already stressful.

Ambulance charges in Pakistan aren’t one fixed number. They change from trip to trip. Here’s what actually decides the price, in simple words, so you know what to ask when you call any service.

1. The type of ambulance

This is the biggest factor. A basic patient transfer ambulance has a stretcher and a trained attendant. An oxygen ambulance adds oxygen supply. A cardiac ambulance adds a heart monitor. An ICU or ventilator ambulance carries a ventilator, monitors, suction and life support equipment, with trained paramedics.

More equipment and more trained staff means a higher cost. So a ventilator trip will always cost more than a basic transfer over the same distance.

2. The distance

A trip inside Rawalpindi or Islamabad costs much less than Rawalpindi to Lahore or Islamabad to Karachi. On long trips, fuel, the crew’s time and the return journey all add up.

3. Waiting time

Sometimes the ambulance has to wait. At the hospital for discharge papers, at a lab for a scan, or for a family member who’s still on the way. Long waits can add to the cost, so ask about it if you expect delays.

4. Extra equipment or staff

If a patient needs something extra, like a doctor travelling along or special equipment, the price can change. Tell us the patient’s condition honestly so the quote is correct from the start.

What to ask any ambulance service

Whoever you call, ask these before booking:

  • What type of vehicle are you sending?
  • Is oxygen included? Is there trained staff on board?
  • What is the total cost for this trip?
  • Is there any charge for waiting?

A good service will answer clearly. If someone avoids giving a price, be careful.

How we do it

At Doctor Ambulance we tell you the cost on the phone before anything is booked. You give us the pickup point, the drop point and the patient’s condition, and we tell you the price for that trip. No hidden extras later.

Don’t let cost delay an emergency

One last thing. In a real emergency, someone not breathing, a heart attack, a bad accident, don’t spend ten minutes comparing prices. Call for help first. Rescue 1122 is free for emergencies. The money talk can wait. The patient can’t.

For a quote, call 0336 291 4741 or 0345 570 4719, or send us a WhatsApp with both locations. We work 24/7 in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and across Pakistan. See all our services on the services page.
